VET CLINIC WALK-IN

The NAS Corpus Christi Veterinary Treatment Facility will be having a Saturday Walk-In Vaccine Clinic on March 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..

They will be offering wellness exams with vaccinations and preventatives will also be available for purchase. First time clients to must be sure to bring their pet(s)’ records with them to the walk-in clinic.

LADIES SELF DEFENSE CLASS

NASCC MWR is hosting a Ladies Only Self Defense Class on March 13, from 5 - 8 p.m.

This class will be held in the group fitness room of Fitness Express (Bldg.

103) and is open to all authorized female MWR patrons ages 10 and up. The class is free of charge and size is limited to 20 people.

BIRDIEST FESTIVAL

Corpus Christi’s third Birdiest Festival in America takes place April 24-28.

The event features 14 different guided field trips, four nature photography workshops, 11 presentations by noted career professionals, seven popular “Raptor Project Shows,” an industry vendor tent, family fun area, arts & crafts shows and more.

SUPERHERO RUN

MWR is hosting a Superhero Run on March 16 at 10 a.m. Adults and children alike can dress up as thier favorite superhero and fly through a 1-mile course filled with “villians” and obstacles. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting applications for their Military Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to military personnel, their spouse or dependent, from the Coastal Bend region. The deadline to apply is March 31.

Active duty and honorably discharged U.S. veterans, including U.S. Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists and their dependents are eligible to apply.

E-STREET GYM HOURS

The E-Street Gym recently changed thier hours of operation. The new hours of operation will be:

Monday - Thursday 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Friday 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Sunday & Holidays Noon - 5 p.m.

IA DEPLOYMENT SUPPORT

The Navy’s Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) has about 200 local and regional staff worldwide who provide an array of services for individual augmentees (IAs) and their family members before, during and after an IA assignment.

Every IA is assigned an Individual Deployment Support Specialist (IDSS), a Fleet and Family Support Center staff member who provides individualized support and assists with information and referral, homecoming briefs and referrals to clinical counseling as needed during a Sailor’s IA deployment cycle.

Other services include personal financial management, transition assistance, spouse employment assistance, new parent support and much more.

There are a number of resources available to IAs and their families.

ADVANCEMENT CYCLE 243

The March 2019 Navy-wide enlisted advancement examination (Cycle 243) testing dates for paygrades of E4-E6 was announced in NAVADMIN 318/18.

The Navywide examination dates are March 7 (E-6), March 14 (E-5) and March 21 (E-4) for Sailors eligible to advance to the next-higher paygrade.

Examination results are anticipated to be released to command triads in May, prior to posting on the Navy Enlisted Advancement System (NEAS) website.

The Library & Resource Center (Bldg. 1872) recently changed thier hours of operation. The new hours of operation will be:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 8 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.

Thursday: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Saturday, Sunday & Holidays: Closed.
